Notes from the Director:
Dear Studio:
March has Sprung, more like a lamb than a lion! The month that brings us the Aides of March, St. Patrick’s’ Day and the Official beginning to Spring finds us looking forward to a busy, inspiring Dream-filled Season?

This is a must for those wanting to work with Denise; a foremost young person’s acting coach and Director, and close-up work with our own Director Jerry Fishman.

Also included in this issue are on-going registrations in the upcoming KPMS workshops, reminders to tune your pianos this month with the return of Spring and getting your child registered for the 2007 NYSSMA festivals.

As always feel free to contact our office with any questions, concerns or ideas. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ALL KPMS CALENDAR EVENTS can be found with directions, times, etc. on our website, www.kilroyproductions.com

It’s Time for a tune-up

A piano is a living breathing instrument. If it is treated with care it will perform well for generations. One of the areas that needs attending to twice annually is tuning. We tune it when the humidity levels drop around October and then again when they rise in March. So it is time to have your pianos tuned.

There is another reason to tune the pianos regularly. The young ears of pianists and singers are impressionable and will be trained to whatever they hear from the piano. If the intervals are true and the sound pure they will get accustomed to that in their music. If not, we are doing them a disservice by training their ear to untrue sound.

For a list of piano turners please visit our website (www.kilroyproductions.com) see the music resources page and there are several listed by preference.

Please call us if you have any questions about the tuners, tuning, or fees.

KPMS Welcomes new teachers to the Faculty:

We are very pleased to welcome two new teachers to the faculty. They bring with them a rich history of performing, education throughout the Americas and an enthusiasm that promises to lift us all up to the next level in 2007, the Year of Dreams.

Laura Cross: (voice & piano teacher)

Ms. Cross comes to us from St. Louis, Missouri. After almost two decades of private study in Piano and a decade of study in Voice (both solo and choral), Ms. Cross has been a vocal and instrumental accompanist for hundreds of musicians, performance pianist in a variety of venues (ranging from classical music, musical theater, sacred classical and contemporary to international study and work in music transcription and arrangement). While new to the New York scene, she is no rookie in music education and performance. She is thrilled to be a part of the faculty of Kilroy Productions Music Studios and looks forward to working with students and colleagues!

Jordan Young: (percussion & piano teacher)

Born in Detroit, MI in 1978, music was always a continuous presence in Jordan's upbringing. He began playing drums at age ten, immediately falling in love with the instrument. His first experience playing jazz was in high school jazz band, where he was first chair all four years. His exposure to a variety of styles at an early age helped him to become the versatile and creative musician he is today.

Jordan attended the Jazz Studies Program at The
University of Michigan,. While in Ann Arbor, he was consistently sought out to perform with local groups with styles ranging from jazz to pop to avant-garde. Hanging at jam sessions in the Metro-Detroit Area, led to gigs with Detroit jazz legends Donald Walden, Marcus Belgrave, Teddy Harris, Jr., James Carter, and Rodney Whitaker. Jordan moved to New York City to become an active part of the NYC jazz scene. Currently he is studying with world class educator John Riley, earning his masters from Manhattan School of Music. Currently, Jordan resides in Brooklyn, NY.
