Two KPMS students out to shoot the moon:
For the 2nd year in a row Pleasantville HS junior Stephanie Corvino has submitted a recording of herself for this prestigious contest. Last year she was heard on the radio as they highlighted some of the best applicants!
This year Stephanie sang Someone Like You from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. The recording can be heard on the KPMS website listening room: (www.kilroyproductions.com)
The top six singers will be announced on The WOR Morning Show, and WOR listeners will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite.
We’ll let you know if you need to VOTE!! GO Steph!
14-year old Alexis Marino has been cast in Zombie Prom at the Westchester Broadway Theater on Monday 5/14 and Tuesday 5/15. The story, about a high school rebel who hurls himself into a nuclear reactor only to emerge as an undead green slimy thing, is an excuse for riffing on '50s conventions, keeping the cast in perpetual dancing motion, and parading one outrageous getup after another. Zombie Prom is a breath of freshness and vitality, an exhilarating sign of spring and renewed life in today's musical landscape of spectacles and revivals.
Alexis prevailed in the auditions, & is the 2d-youngest one in the cast (total of about 50 young performers in 2 casts)
Kudos Alexis!!
Spring Studio Concerts 2007:
The Westchester Studio Concerts are coming up on Tuesday, June 19 & Thursday 21, at the Katonah Village Library. And with 2007 dubbed the Year of Dreams we are going to be taking performance to the next level. This will be the opportunity for each and every student to really take ownership of the ground they have personally taken this year. It will be a celebration of music and growth!
Directions & casts for each concert will be sent in a separate email. We look forward to seeing you and your family there.
Summer is almost here:
The KPMS Spring semester ends Friday, June 23. The summer semester begins officially on Monday, June 26. We will run through Labor Day for those interested in getting a jump on music during the summer months. Students can sign-up for the whole semester, in-between camps and vacations and even for 2 weeks at a time. We will be offering guest artists as well as some of our faculty. Speak with your teacher about your plans, so that you can get on the schedule.
Maybe even pick up that other instrument that they’ve been waiting of more time to study.
