Welcome back. Fall 2007 is shaping up fast to be our most productive & enjoyable year ever.
This issue is filled with news for the start of the Fall semester. There is our new payment program, Kilroy Kidz auditions, new faculty members and the Fall semester calendar.

Kilroy Kidz announces Auditions:
Kilroy Kidz will hold auditions for positions in the performing ensemble, for the 2007-2008 school year, on Sunday September 23, 2007, in Riverdale, NY. All full-time KPMS students are eligible & should have proficiency in their instrument(s). Instrumentalists are especially encouraged to audition.
Please RSVP to jfishman@kilroyproductions.com by September 15 if your child would like to audition. Current
Kilroy Kidz do not have to audition, but all will have to sign a letter of agreement.
Note: The auditions are very early in the year, due to an upcoming benefit concert in late October.
Kilroy Kidz is the by-audition only performing ensemble that is hosted by KPMS and produces the Community Service Concert Series annually. Past performances include Madison Square Garden, the Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights Festival, Katrina’s Kidz& Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance, Gotta Help! at the Tarrytown Music Hall (benefit concert for young Hurricane Katrina Survivors), Mitzvah Projects, Songs of Love Concerts, various day care centers, nursing homes, hospitals & schools.
Fall Registration:
KPMS now offers your choice in billing. You can either pay by the pre-paid semester program or monthly. The pre-paid Semester plan offers discounts off the new fees. If you have not accepted this plan yet, and would like to, please call the office at 917-533-7464 to do so.
KPMS Welcomes New Teaching Artists to our Roster of Brilliant Teachers:
We are honored & pleased to introduce you to four new extraordinary teachers who teach a coterie of instruments equally well.
Reshma Shetty (voice)
Since her graduation from the prestigious Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, with an Artist Diploma in Opera, Reshma’s career has expanded into many performance genres.
Some past roles include Maria (West Side Story), Musetta (La Boheme), Anne Egerman (A Little Night Music), and Zerlina (Don Giovanni). She has been a soloist at the Opera Festival di Lucca in Italy, AIMS Festival in Graz Austria and with the Washington DC Symphony Orchestra on Capital Hill. She was also the winner at the annual National Opera Association Competition. In 2006 she played the leading lady (Priya) in A.R. Rahman/ Andrew Lloyd Webber’s first National Tour of Bombay Dreams, Ayah in The Secret Garden at the 2006 Broadway Aids Benefit Concert, and Indira in Homeland at the Theater for the New City. In 2007 she was a lead actress in Jason Grotes 1001 at The Contemporary American Theater Festival and will at the end of the year make her big screen debut alongside Ally Sheedy and Ruby Dee in Steam.
Matthew Meyer (guitar, bass, harmonica & piano)
Over the past ten years, Matt has performed music worldwide.
Matt has composed a vast repertoire of original songs for guitar and piano. His tunes are rooted in folk, blues, and jazz. They’ve been performed throughout the east coast, San Francisco, and abroad in Spain, London and Switzerland. His shows have been described as ‘Extremely soulful, rich, colorful and a throwback to music and artistry that is slowly being forgotten…
Matt has tutored children ages eight through fourteen for four years in: guitar, voice, piano, bass, drums, congas, harmonica, saxophone, trumpet, violin and cello.
This Fall Matt will be attending The City College of New York where he will be working on a Master's degree in Jazz performance.
Gjilberta Gelaj (Cello, piano)
was born in Albania, where she began her cello studies at age six. After finishing her musical studies at the Prenke Jakova High School of Music in Shkoder, Albania, she toured Italy with the Shkoder Symphony Orchestra. Gjilberta was then accepted into the Music Conservatory at the C.U.N.Y. Purchase College, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance in May 2004. After that she was accepted in the Performance Program at the Mannes College of Music in Manhattan, NY. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Music Education in the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University in NY.
Gjilberta has made appearances in Carnegie Hall as a member of the "Passionata Trio" in 2002 and 2003, and has given numerous solo, chamber music and orchestral performances throughout the New York and New Jersey areas. In 2006, Gjilberta became a member of the New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra and has since performed twice in Carnegie Hall and toured extensively in South Korea. She has studied with eminent cellist, such as Peter Wiley and Andre Emelianoff, and has performed in various master classes including Yo-Yo Ma.
Gjilberta has served as a member of the cello faculty of the Abrons Art Center located in the Henry Street School Settlement in Manhattan and C Note Music School in Cortland Manor in NY. She has taught extensively in both her native country and the United States. Gjilberta is proud to be a Charter Member~Associate Artist of the Hudson Valley Piano Club.
Anne Browning Wilson (piano)
Anne Browning Wilson joins us from being the Pianist for Ryland Angel project on the EMI Record label. Read more about Anne in the next issue.
KPMS Students in the Spotlight:
Congratulations to graduating seniors Jane Menton (Manhattan-KPMS piano student of 10 years!) & Matt Green (Chappaqua-KPMS piano student of 4 years). Each performed their last concert with KPMS as a student. Both are welcome back at any time as alumni. We will miss your intelligence, your charm & your music. Now go get ‘em!
